Miracle 116: A Purpose in This Life

This WONDERFUL miracle is from a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints living in Peru!

The other day I got phone call from my cousin who had told me that her father (my uncle) had been in a plane crash. He was found at the crash site pretty banged up. He was in a small plane with just 2 or 3 other people which had died in the crash. When he was checked out by a doctor, not a bone was broken, just bruised. A few days later the crash was one of the major stories in the paper. It described in detail that he was one of the only survivors in history to survive a crash of that magnitude in that type of aircraft. I knew that he had a purpose here in this life and he was protected by God.

Miracle 115: A Priesthood Miracle from Haiti

This incredible miracle is from a young man living in Haiti. See the translation below!

One day my mom became sick. I remember it well. Since she has always had high blood pressure, doctors had told her to eat healthy. But that day my mom got sick; her doctor said that she had suffered a stroke. And that she was in bad condition. When I got to the hospital and I saw her lying there, she couldn't talk. I immediately remembered that with God and as His son, I had the Priesthood. What could I do in this circumstance? My spirit received the answer. It was to give my mom a blessing. This thought touched the deepest parts of my spirit. I gave her a blessing. In that moment, I felt a powerful force that began in my head and went down to my fingers. After the blessing, I spoke to my mother and to my surprise, she responded! Everyone there said that it was a miracle. The next morning, her doctor said that she was doing well and was healed from her stroke. It was God who healed her, not me. He used me as an instrument to bless His children here on earth. Since that day, my testimony has grown stronger about the Priesthood. We must remain worthy to give Salvation to the children of men. I am very grateful to have the Priesthood and am grateful that it has been restored to the earth by the prophet, Joseph Smith. I am very grateful for this. God is always there to help and serve this church.

Miracle 114: A Huge Armoire

This simple, but powerful miracle is from a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in Brunswick, Georgia!

A few weeks back I was with a group of fellow missionaries and we were helping move this lady in to an apartment complex. A lot of the stuff was heavy, but with two of us, most of it was easy to get up the stairs. After a couple of hours we were tired, but there was still still one piece of furniture left. Naturally, the last one left was the hardet to move. All six of us looked at this huge armoire and wondered if we would ever be able to accomplish the task at hand. One missionary suggested that we pray. After the prayer, the armoire felt a lot lighter than it was before and we were given the strength to carry it up the stairs! And to top that miracle off, through that service we have been given the incredible opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with this wonderful woman.

Miracle 113: A Simple Sign

This incredible miracle is from a young man living in Canada!

My miracle all began one night when I prayed to God. In my prayer, I asked him if I could receive a sign from Him just to see if He was hearing my prayers or not. A couple of days went by and I didn't receive any type of sign. Maybe a week later, I was walking down a trail to go pay a visit to a friend. On my way back from that visit, I noticed a pamphlet from a distance, right in the middle of the path I was walking on. On that pamphlet, it read "God's Simple Plan of Salvation" and I thought to myself..."Could this be the sign that I asked for?"

That brought my faith up little more. That pamphlet gave me directions how to be saved and what to do. So now that I received that sign, I've been praying and reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible and going to church. Now I know that He does hear prayers. You just have to be patient and wait, just as He is patient with us.

"But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." Romans 8:25

Miracle 112: Saved By the Bun

This incredible miracle is from a darling young woman I absolutely adore. So grateful for this miracle!

One day I was helping out on my grandfather's farm with my family. There was a lot of commotion going on and I was freezing. My mom told me to slip on my dad's big jacket. Still freezing, I continued stepping backward, closer and closer to the outside barn heater. I remember thinking how warm the jacket was when I put my hand back to see what was touching my back. I quickly pulled my hand forward in pain as melting pieces of the jacket were all over my hand. I began running away from the heater realizing the jacket was on fire. As I ran, I managed to get the coat off and my family was able to put out the fire I had begun. I know it was by the grace of God that I had put my long hair up into a bun on top of my head that morning. It really could have been so much worse. I am truly grateful that Heavenly Father is aware of me and wants so dearly to take care of each of us.

Miracle 111: Slip and Slide

This lovely miracle is from a power house of a mother living Arkansas. Thank goodness for answered prayers.

We were blessed with a safe drive home from church in the snowy weather. The closing prayer in Sacrament meeting that day blessed everyone to be able to travel home safely in the ice and snow. In our big 15 passenger van, we had no slips or slides up and down the hills covered with snow. We made it all the way to our driveway and as I turned to pull in, the van began to slip and slide until it was stuck in the cul-de-sac at the bottom of the driveway. It will stay there until the snow melts. What a blessing that we didn't get stuck somewhere on the way home. Thank you Heavenly Father for answering our prayers for a safe drive home from church in the bad weather. He does answer prayers!

Miracle 110: He Had Created Her

This beautiful miracle is from a small town, Christian mom living in Northern Florida. I love family miracles the most!

My middle daughter was three months old when she became incredibly sick. We went to doctor after doctor and no one seemed to be able to diagnose what was wrong with my daughter. One rainy night in particular I remember being so discouraged as I sat in Shands hospital. I was praying to God that He would help somehow, someway. In that moment God told me that He had created her and loved her. I instantly knew He would take care of her. Not too long after that everything began to fall into place. The doctors determined the problem and performed surgery on both her heart and her liver. God brought her through all of it though my sweet, tiny baby girl shouldn't have made it. It truly was a miracle. She is my miracle from God.

Miracle 109: What Matters Most

This lovely little miracle is from one of my absolute favorite people here in Lake Butler. She's one darling Southern woman.

Earlier last week a dear friend of mine passed away. When the day of her funeral came around I was busy cooking for the luncheon following the burial. To my dismay, the power in my neighborhood completely shut off. I had two pies in the oven and still had to get ready. I decided there was nothing I could do but leave and run to my son's house clear across town to finish everything, though it would make me late to the funeral service. As I was driving, a thought came to me that I should go to my friend's house right across from the church where the funeral service was being held instead. Miracle of all miracles, she graciously welcomed me in and let me use her kitchen to cook and her bathroom to get ready. And because she was right across from the church, I even made it there ten minutes early! I know my Heavenly Father is aware of me. No matter how small, He is always there to help with what matters most to me.

Miracle 108: God Saves Hearts

This miracle is from a kind, Christian woman we met in Lake City in the midst of our missionary work! She is incredibly kind.

My miracle is about my dear grandson. 3 years ago, when he was born he was very sick. After ten days, he had open heart surgery to reconstruct his aorta and to seal valves in his heart. The doctors told us he had a 50 percent chance of living. I remember praying more than I have really have. A preacher in my congregation even gave us an anointed prayer cloth to stay in my grandson's bassinets. In the end, my dear grandson survived and is happy and healthy today! I feel so blessed to know that God really was answering my prayers then and continues to do so now. I truly believe in miracles!

Miracle 107: Don't Worry!

This wonderful miracle is from another missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! He is currently serving in California.

As I was getting my camera out of my backpack, I dropped my thumb drive into a river. It was hard. I lost a lot of my favorite photos and some other important files. I tried to fish it out, but couldn't get to it. When I decided it was time to give up, I heard the voice of an old friend saying, "Don't worry. It will be alright." This was able to give me peace. I'm thankful for the Holy Ghost who can bring things into our mind and heart to truly give us peace.

Miracle 106: She Agreed to Come!

This simple and powerful miracle is from a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in my home state of California!

Prayers are real! When you pray, God will answer you! As a missionary, we are constantly inviting people to come to church, and ultimately to come unto Christ. Recently, my companion and I prayed that we would be able to see someone that we hadn't seen in a long time. When we went to see this person they answered the door! We talked with them and left them with an invitation to come back to church. She agreed to come...it was awesome! I know prayers can and will be answered.

Miracle 105: RAP-RAP-RAP-RAP

This darling miracle is from a fellow sister missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Jacksonville, Florida Mission!

I woke up one morning missing a dear friend of mine, TERRIBLY. In my prayer, I informed Heavenly Father of how I was feeling, but that I was happy where I was and I knew that He is always with me. I felt better after a bit, and then finished getting ready and went downstairs to study. Right at the tail-end of studies, my missionary companion and I heard a RAP-RAP-RAP-RAP at the door. We flew from our seats and yanked open the door---Nothing. Though, when I looked down, there was a cute little note of love from the very dear friend from whom I had told Heavenly Father I missed. My day was infinitely better after that. The miracle is that God knows us and what we're feeling, whether we can get through it, or find it hard, or even if its a fleeting moment where we have a passing thought that doesn't really matter. GOD KNOWS.

Miracle 104: A Banana Boat Miracle

This powerful miracle is from one of my friends living in Utah!

Today I was reminded of a powerful miracle in my life that has forever changed me. The memory of this experience was a God send at this point in my life of crossroads and crucial decisions and I felt impressed to share it in some way. The brevity of this experience makes it easy to overlook, even for me, however, it has been such a pivotal and powerful experience that it remains in a position of importance and motivation in my life.

I was with a group of peers on a river rafting trip that was organized and sponsored by the church I belong to, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly referred to as the Mormon Church). Our leaders had led us down to a portion of the Green River in Southern Utah where we had spent the first day camping out. The next day we began a river rafting trip down the Green River and were having a great time. During one part of the day I climbed onto the back of an inflatable “banana” boat with a good friend. A “banana” boat is a long, skinny boat, like a small canoe, where one person sits in the front of the boat and the other a number of feet behind the first, in the back. My friend and I were having a fun time in our small, nimble, inflatable craft, when we came across a large rapid that seemed to double back on itself so that the underneath part flowed with the current of the river and then the top folded back on itself, ultimately flowing upstream. Looking for an adventure and feeling invincible, my friend and I took this rapid head on. Plunging into this obstacle with momentum, my friend and his half of the boat were carried past the rapid before we came to an abrupt stop while me and my half were stuck just on top of this rapid. We rowed excitedly with all of our might for a few brief seconds, trying to free ourselves from this rapid. Suddenly our inflatable raft folded in half and I was sucked into the water and immediately drawn into this rapid.

Initially, I felt no concern for my situation, I had grown up in the water, was wearing a life jacket and being submerged was far from a new experience for me. After remaining under water for a time without surfacing however, I began to get nervous. Though my eyes were closed I could tell that I was going deeper and deeper into the water as the light that gently illuminated my eyelids grew fainter and fainter. I did not seem to be moving forward, but rather seemed to be driven downwards, held in place by this rapid which flowed in two directions at once. Though in reality it was probably only a couple of seconds, I felt an eternity had passed as I began to perceive only darkness. Like a bolt of lightning the thought struck me, “I am going to die.” As quickly as that thought came it left, and my mind turned to the incredible promises that had been made to me in my patriarchal blessing. What’s more, I remembered the beautiful words of God spoken directly to me through His servant, a humble patriarch, who told me of the great works I was sent to this earth to do. I knew in an instant that it was not my time to go, that I could rely on the Savior and that He would get me through any hardship, including my immediate and consuming struggle in that moment. No sooner had that illuminating thought crossed my mind than I shot to the surface, was able to take breath once again and my struggle was over. Almost without delay a couple appeared next to me in the water, quickly pulled me up onto their raft, carried me past the turbulent water and back to my group.

I know that my Father in Heaven somehow pulled me out of that situation to preserve me for some future purpose and I am ever grateful for His love and presence in my life and for the great hope the Savior of the world brings to each of us if we will but turn to Him.

Miracle 103: Knock Knock

This simple miracle is from a woman living in Lake City, Florida that I just met last week!

I had joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2005. A few years later my husband passed away and I moved from Long Island, New York down to Florida to be closer to my family. Through the move and the tragedy, I never found another LDS church nearby. I kept reading my scriptures and praying though. One evening I answered a knock on my door and who would be standing there, but two sweet missionaries from my very own church here in Lake City! It turns out these two sisters had been told by my neighbor to come visit me though she had no idea I was a Mormon! I have since gone back to church and felt so apart of the church family. I know it was not an accident that my neighbor thought to suggest the missionaries come to my door. God works in mysteriously, wonderful and simple ways. I'm so grateful to feel at home again with my church.

Miracle 102: Playing in Italian!

This lovely miracle is from a sister missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in Milan, Italy! I adore this darling servant of God.

We were teaching a super sweet woman about the Restoration of the gospel through Joseph Smith, and wanted to show her the video of his experience of the First Vision. We set it all up, but for some reason Italian didn't show up as an option for languages. We could not figure out what the problem was. After trying everything we could think of, selecting different languages, looking at every menu on the TV, we finally decided to just press play. Usually it starts playing in English, but to our surprise it started playing in Italian! My companion and I just kind of looked at each other without a clue how it had worked. It was a little miracle and the woman we were teaching was able to feel the Spirit testify strongly of Joseph Smith's experience and of the Book of Mormon. There are little miracles every day! The Lord's hand is always in this work even in the smallest ways!

Miracle 101: Parenting with Prayer

This powerful miracle is from a father living in Utah!

When my son was 17 years old and 3 days from getting his Eagle Scout award, I got a call from the mall security that he had been caught shop lifting. I told them I would be right down to pick him up. As I hung up the phone, I felt prompted to pray for the Lord's help, but I was so upset I did not feel like praying. As I drove to the mall I became amazed at how out of line my thinking had become. I thought I should call the scout office and tell them to take away his Eagle award, I thought I should tell my son he is done being able to associate with these friends. I wanted to tell the Bishop about it all. I even pondered what I should do to punish him. On and on, these thoughts kept coming.

Finally I arrived at the mall, and before going in, I said a prayer: "Father, help me out here so I don't ruin my relationship with my son by overreacting."

As we started home, I got this overwhelming feeling to let him know I loved him. I felt it so strongly that I started to cry realizing I could not put into words the love I had for him. As I tried and continued to cry, the feeling came over me that this is how our Father in Heaven feels when we sin. I then realized and was taught by the spirit that this lesson was for me so that I could feel my Savior's love for me, though I'm a sinner. I told my son that I loved him more than I could describe, but that I hoped he could feel it. It didn't have near the impact on him as it did me. I knew my Father in Heaven still loved me after all I had done to disappoint him.

A few years later, my son went to Honduras on his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has since married in the temple. I'm so grateful I prayed, even though I was so mad and didn't feel like praying.

Miracle 100: Anonymous Miracles

This young father's miracle is awe-inspiring. I absolutely love his faith and trust in God.

I am a father of three darling little kids and I have recently been searching for a job. I was offered a job up in Atlanta, nearly 5 hours away, but the thought of spending 5 days a week away from my family just didn't feel right. After a considerable amount of time praying, my wife and I turned down the job. We had no idea how we were going to make ends meet for the month, but we truly felt God was telling us to put our family first. The very next day there was a check in the mailbox for 1500 dollars. And again the following day another anonymous check came for 1000 dollars. Suddenly, my wife and I had the money we needed to make it to the end of the month. Now I have more time to find a job that will work best for my family. This experience has truly sweetened my relationship with my Heavenly FAther because I can see how apart of my life He truly is.

Miracle 99: Hoping and Praying

This wonderful miracle is from a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ogden, Utah.

My companion and I have been teaching a man who is from Ethiopia. As he has learned more, he has felt the spirit and desired to be baptized. The issue at hand became that his wife said she would leave him if he was baptized. He decided to stay with his wife instead of be baptized.  Just today however, he said that he is praying and hoping for her heart to soften and that he will continue to be pray even more for her. This is a big step for him! He even asked if she wanted to join in on a lesson and she said she would!

This was one of my miracles I experienced today. I love this man so much because he is so willing to follow God and obey His commandments. He really wants this and he is willing to do whatever it takes to help his wife see the truthfulness he knows and loves.

Miracle 98: The Miracle of Adoption

This lovely miracle is from a kind Christian husband and father living in Lake Butler, Florida.

My wife and I had been married for 7 years when our lovely miracle occurred. We weren't able to have children and so dearly wanted to be parents. We began working on adopting a child through a private adoption agency. Right around the same time, we found our faith and we decided to be baptized. 9 months later we were able to adopt our very own child, almost as if the promise we made that day with God was what brought our son to us. Miracles really do happen as we follow Christ.

Miracle 97: A Fasting Miracle

This miracle is from a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who actually serves his mission in Jacksonville as well, but he is a Spanish speaking missionary. I love being able to share them in different languages! Miracles are happening all over the place.

One Saturday night, I found myself very worried about how something was going to turn out during the week. The thought occurred that I could fast for it, but I had a problem: I had visits to make after church services, so if I chose to fast, I wouldn't eat for over 24 hours. But, the impression to fast stayed, so I did so, praying that God would provide something for me. The next day, I felt more energized than I usually feel when I don't fast. As the day progressed, I still couldn't find any way to eat anything, but I felt a calm assurance that everything would be alright. Then, as church ended, I met up with the member I was going to make visits with. To my surprise, he told me that his wife had made sandwiches for us to eat since we were going to be busy during dinner. This miracle is very simple, but I was grateful all the same.

Miracle 96: The Lord Took it Away

This miracle is from a wonderful sister here in Jacksonville, who has such incredible strength and a love for the Lord. She has experienced, first hand, the blessings and power of the Priesthood.

It was May 12, 2012 when I went to the ER in a lot of pain. They did an ultrasound of my left ovary and came back to tell me that there was a solid mass, the size of a 50 cent piece. Two days later, they called and informed me that it was cancer and all I could do was cry. I asked for a Priesthood blessing soon after, so my husband and another member of the church gave me one and on June 9, 2012 we went to the temple to be sealed. A week later I went back to the doctor to have another ultrasound, they came into the room and said we don't know what happened or where it went, but the tumor is gone! All we could say was that the Lord took it away, but we know what happened it was the blessings of the Priesthood and the Temple. This is my miracle!

Miracle 95: Then You Knocked On My Door

This darling miracle is from a sister missionary serving in Jacksonville, Florida with me for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The fruits of missionary work truly are miracles.

My companion and I were working hard trying to find, teach, and baptize like missionaries are suppose to. We knocked on door after door with little success. One day after an amazing trade-off with our sister training leaders and a new resolve to find those people who would listen to our message, we knocked on the door of a family that we hadn't been able to contact.

We knocked twice and we were about to turn away and give up. We decided to knock one more time...and the door opened! A man that hasn't been to church in a long time opened the door and he invited us in to introduce us to his non-member wife. She was really nice but seemed a little hesitant. We were able to recount Joseph Smith's humble prayer and as we told her of the vision he saw, the spirit filled the room. The room was silent... Then she began to cry. She told us that she had been going through a hard time and she was ready to give up her faith. She had been praying and asked God to give her a sign..."Then you knocked on my door."

We continued to teach her the lessons and everything made sense to her. She said that it felt right. We invited her to be baptized and she was so excited!
The day of her baptism finally came and it brought the whole family together. Her Catholic mother was touched by the spirit. Her mother cried and gave everyone hugs. Her father-in-law who had stopped going to church saw her example and committed that he would come back to church. He then was able to perform the baptism as a worthy Priesthood holder. The spirit filled the room as we gathered around the baptismal font and watched her baptism. As she came up out of the water she smiled and then put her hands over her face and began to cry. Later she told us that she felt it! She felt the spirit as she was baptized. She now feels at peace. After so many years, she finally feels at peace. She said she can sleep better at night than she has in a long time. She is now a faithful member of the church. She attends church with her husband and she has a new light about her. Her story is truly a miracle and only happened through the grace of God.

Miracle 93 & 94: True Love

We've got two true love miracles for you seeing as it is February! The first one is from a darling young couple living in Lake Butler, Florida. The second one is from a woman living in Keystone, Florida. God really is aware of who can truly bring us true joy in our everyday lives.

Miracle 93: I graduated high school in 2012 and I am 19 years old. When I was 17, I fell in love. Now, two years later we have our own home, we both have jobs, and we have each other. Talk about a simple love and happiness miracle for us!

Miracle 94: I had fallen in love in high school, but over time our live has drifted apart. I got married to another man and had kids. He got married as well and had his own children. Between the two of us, we ended up having 7 kids. Miraculously, after thirteen years and two hard divorces, we ended up together. Now, my children have a father who truly loves them and is the ideal father-figure in their life. And I have the man a truly love making me happier and happier everyday. I know this is all according to God's plan and this reunion is the biggest blessing in my life!

Miracle 92: So Keenly Aware

This lovely miracle is from a darling mother of four children in cute Lake Butler. She is someone I've grown to love so much in such a short time.

Last week I felt the worst both physically and mentally that I've felt yet. One evening I felt especially bad. I knew I needed a Priesthood blessing. My husband was not going to be home for several hours. My dad and brother were both out of town. I heard a knock on our front door. My son called out, ''It's the Elders!" I knew Heavenly Father was so keenly aware of me at that moment. The kids and I met them on our back porch where the Elders gave me a Priesthood Blessing for the sick or otherwise afflicted. I couldn't hold back the tears. It was such a potent reminder of the love our Father in Heaven has for each one of us.
