Miracle 17: Blessings of Tithing

This lovely miracle of tithing is written by a fellow missionary serving in Jacksonville.


When my parents were newly-married college students, they were pretty poor. In fact, one day, they found themselves with only $100 left and literally no food in the house. As my mom was about to leave to go grocery shopping, she realized that they hadn't paid tithing yet. When she and my dad (who works as an artist and generally has no steady income) figured how much they needed to pay, the amount came to $100. So, they were faced with a decision: pay tithing, or starve. After thought and prayer, they put their faith in the Lord and paid their tithing. They then started to fast, because there was nothing else they could really do. The next day, my dad received a call from an art museum. They'd decided to purchase one of his sketches; the amount of the sale was $100. With this story, our parents have instilled within us a testimony that God answers prayers and blesses us when we have the faith to follow his commandments.

There can be miracles when you believe in God.
